The conference, organized for the ten years of MeGMI, was an important moment to discuss about actual problem in technical-managerial education at various level. Moreover the event was an opportunity for talking about how actions could inspire the dialogue between education world and industrial world, to create and to qualify professional figure with necessary competence for engaging future challenges in industrial firms.

CEO Meeting ASAP Service Management Forum “SMART SERVICES FOR SMART CITIZENS”

Moment of meeting for members of high management of companies belonging to the community of ASAP Service Management Forum, happened October 13, 2014, at Palazzo dei Contratti e delle Manifestazioni, Bergamo, in preparation for the XI Conference ASAP SMF “Smart Services for Smart Citizens – Opportunità e Sfide per le Soluzioni Business to Community”. The conference will address the topic of “smart services”  with the goal to verify and to understand the challenges that the industrial companies will have to take for the development of business models “service-based” of the future.

The meeting’s aim was to identify and to discuss the key topics related to the Smart Services and how they could be embedded in the Corporate level, analyzing the possible impacts for the product-service chains. Key-note speaker of the event was Stefano Andreani, Research and Teaching Associate of the Graduate School of Design at Harvard University, who presented the project “Bergamo 2035. A new urban concept “. This project, in collaboration with Harvard University and University of Bergamo, is developing new strategies and organizational methodologies for integrated urban ecosystems called ”community-centered”.

The evolution towards services in the manufacturing context

The seminar was organized by Paolo Gaiardelli (CELS) and its main theme was the servitization process in manufacturing SME, in particular changing process for which some manufacturing firms decided to change itself  from single goods manufactured to providers for integrated solution of product-service.

The keynote speaker of the workshop was Dr. Iain McKechnie from Aston Business School (UK). He shows how english SME are facing  the servitization process and the profits they obtained.

Before his speech, the researcer of CELS talking about the main evidence of a survey planning in Bergamo territory that has involved  more than 300 manufacturing SME on service theme. This survey is collocated inside the research project called “Analisi e valutazione delle determinanti per la progettazione e gestione di soluzioni integrate di prodotto-servizio” supported inside the project TALY® (Italian TALented Young ®esearchers).

Services in Bergamo manifacturing: obstacle or opportunity?

From many years CELS is working on servitization, who is the process  which by a lot of manufacturing SMEs are developing to change the business model from selling products to give integrated solutions of product-service.

In 2013, with the program ITALY® (Italian TALented Young ®esearchers) a research called “Analysis and evaluation to define the design and to manage the integrated product service solutions” was supported to evaluate the maturity level of services given by SMEs in bergamo’s region.

The research was conducted by surveys and case studies involving 303 manufacturing SMEs. 

In the  final event, on 20th november, the research results have been presented by Paolo Gaiardelli (CELS) e Fabiana Pirola (CELS), after an introduction speech of Gianluigi Viscardi (Vicepresidente Confindustria Bergamo con delega all’Innovazione, Tecnologia e Start-up e Vicepresidente Bergamo Sviluppo – Azienda Speciale CCIAA). Following the presentation of research results, Iain McKechnie (Aston Business School) has talked about servitization process of english SMEs. The event was closed by a round table, coordinating by Prof. Paolo Gaiardelli, with this exponents of industrial and academic world: Vittoria Guadalupi (Vinservice S.r.l.), Demetrio Trussardi (Comelit S.p.A.), Daniela Andreini (Università degli Studi di Bergamo), Ivan Capelli (CMS Industries S.p.A.) e Iain McKechnie (Aston Business School).

XI Convegno ASAP Service Management Forum “SMART SERVICES FOR SMART CITIZENS – Opportunità e Sfide per le Soluzioni Business to Community”

The XI National Conference ASAP Service Management Forum was held on 20th and 21st November, 2014 at the Palazzo dei Contratti e delle Manifestazioni. The event, organized by ASAP Service Management Forum researchers, was an initiative in collaboration with five Italian universities including CELS Research Group of the University of Bergamo. The event was attended more than 130 people.

The main topic has focused on the “smart services” to understand how the challenges that the companies and the industrial consulting would undertake the development of business models “service-based” of the future. In particular, we tried to understand how companies will have to rethink its organization, process management, communication with partners and other stakeholders involved, as well as develop new skills for the design, development and delivery of “Smart Services “.

The keynote speakers was from academia and industry world, including representatives of ABB, Aston Business School, Canon, GGF Group, IBM, Piaggio & C., Samsung and many others.

Presentation of the results of the research Veicolo Industriale 2014. The new dynimycs of road: which impact on demand and supply of services.

The mutated condition of the european context in transportation of  goods, characterized by a progressive transfer of the gravity centre of the traffic to the east and a gradual marginalization of Italy, for necessity, even by who operates in vehicle heavy industrial assistance, to review their service strategies.

Based on the results of research led by CELS and ASAP Service Management Forum, this workshop introduce a discussion about manufactures, service and customers networks about the new role that the service networks must get to meet the changing needs of the automotive market, maintaining a business already very fragile.

According to several sector studies in the near future will seen, in the technology one of the major enables elements, the innovation and the differentiation even ion the world of industrial vehicles, both in term of new business opportunity, both for the possibility to developing new commercial policies, organizational and coordination practices and also to control the supply chain.

Based on the results of research led by CELS and ASAP Service Management Forum, this Workshop has introduced a comparison between manufactures, service networks about the new opportunity  that the technology offers for the development of the business services in the world of industrial vehicles, but also about the difficulties from its pervasive use.
