eSCM – Education in Supply Chain Management

The objective of the eSCM project, funded by the European Community under the Leonardo framework, is to develop an Internet-based education/training platform in the field of supply-chain management. It provides an ICT infrastructure for collaborative learning in practical project tasks involving students, researchers and SME employees, with the aims at:


•    Supporting traditional education with e-learning, teaching not only technical knowledge but the ability of self-organized learning with ICT, and promoting an active role of students through their involvement in specific projects based on industrial cases;
•    Creating new life-long-learning opportunities for industrial SMEs employees, providing with both theoretical lectures and practical activities on SCM topics, developing the ability to work in teams and familiarizing with new information and communication tools;
•    Developing a co-operation environment for the physical and virtual exchange of students, teachers, and industrial employees, bridging research, educational and industrial practices, and supporting a collaborative learning process. The objective of the eSCM project is to develop an Internet-based education/training platform in the field of supply-chain management.


The Consortium working on the eSCM project comprises 5 active partners from universities and research centers:
•    Computer and Automation Research Institute of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences
•    Università degli Studi di Bergamo – Dipartimento di Ingegneria Industriale
•    Politecnico di Milano – Dipartimento di Ingegneria Gestionale (DIG) e dipartimento di Metodi Innovativi per la Didattica (METID)
•    Fraunhofer Institute for Manufacturing Engineering and Automation
•    Politehnica University of Bucharest, Faculty of Engineering and Management of Technological Systems
